Publication 526 is the IRS tome describing charitable contributions. This was a good year for me -- by which I mean that I was fully employed, which is, all in all, a relatively pleasant state of affairs. (You won't feel this way unless you've been out of work for a considerable period and old enough to have accumulated a responsibility or three). This meant it was time to raise up head from the computer screen and consider how to help the less fortunate (though it must be admitted that all was transacted from the very same just-disparaged computer screen).
